How It Works...
Concorde Crypto’s foray into dapp development has finally come to fruition. They have released a new type of dapp that teaches users about dapp development but rewards them as well for playing. The concept is quite easy. Users attempt to become pilots of a virtual airline by purchasing a ticket for .1eth. .1 ethereum is equal to about $330.00 USD. When a player buys a ticket they are assigned to a random aircraft that has 16 available positions and 1 pilot. Beneath each pilot are two-copilots, followed by 4 flight attendants, and 8 passengers. As tickets are bought, each player is assigned to the next open slot, starting with the co-pilots. If both co-pilot positions are already filled, they will be assigned as one of four flight attendants. If all four flight attendant positions are filled they will be assigned as one of eight passengers. This continues until someone is finally assigned as the eighth passenger, at which point the plane splits into two. The plane splits equally, with each co-pilot becoming pilots of their own aircraft. The four flight attendants split equally to each aircraft and become the new co-pilots of the two aircraft. The eight passengers split equally and four are assigned as the flight attendants to one aircraft, and the other 4 passengers are assigned as flight attendants to the other aircraft. Each new plane now has room for eight passengers each. This filling and splitting of aircraft continues with everyone hoping to become a pilot with a filled aircraft. Once an aircraft is filled, the pilot can retire and now withdraw .72 eth as his retirement, which is all handled through the games interface. Not only is the game intuitive, but it’s on the blockchain, so it cannot be cheated.
Is There A Potential of A Rug-Pull?
Not really as a player can only invest .1 eth. A player cannot buy multiple tickets unless they fund multiple wallets with .1 eth, and buy tickets from separate wallet addresses. But this would be counter-intuitive because most will want to wait to see if they can actually make it to a Pilot position and retire with .72 eth by only investing .1 eth.
How Does the Developer Make Money?
The developer is actually taking .01 eth (about $30.00) for each ticket purchased. This is why pilots retire with .72 eth instead of .8. If you look at how the plane splits, the eight passengers are the ones who actually contribute to a pilots retirement fund. .1 eth X 8 passengers would be .8 eth. But because of the .01 airport maintenance fee, a pilot only retires with .72 eth.
What is the Duty-Free Store?
Many will remember this game from the 1980’s where people would invest thousands of dollars to retire as a pilot. The game could only continue if new players were brought in. Your classic pyramid scheme. The devoloper of Concorde Crypto recognized this flaw, so they have introduced a mechanism by which players actually do get something in return. Each player who buys a ticket receives 200 CRDEV3 tokens. These tokens will be redeemable in Concorde Crypto’s Duty Free store also accessible from the website. However, at the time of this writing, it appears that the Duty Free store is still under construction.
Can I actually turn .1eth into .72eth?
Absolutely! Because the code resides as a smart contract on the blockchain, the rules are immutable. If planes fill up, the pilots will definitely retire. The biggest issue facing this is player interest. If interest subsides, players could end up as pilots with partially filled planes. But for the relatively small cost to try, it definitely sounds to us like it would be worth it. Only time will tell.
